MLA fund suspended for one year in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow. Four important proposals were passed in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath here on Wednesday. Among the proposals, the key one is deduction of 30 percent of the salary of ministers and MLAs, including the Chief Minister, for one year in order to deal with Covid-19 pandemic. This amount will be deposited in the Covid Care Fund, which will be spent in medical facilities, food, quarantine camps and other facilities to fight Covid-19.

 

Finance Minister Suresh Khanna and Cabinet Minister Moti Singh said that the cabinet has decided to deposit 30% of the constituency allowance, office allowance, salaries of the ministers, legislators and legislative council members, including the Chief Minister, in Covid Care Fund to fight the Corona virus epidemic. In the cabinet meeting, it has been decided to suspend the MLA fund for 1 year. The MLA funds of 2020-21 will be used to fight Corona. This will help in depositing Rs 1509 crore in the Covid Care Fund. It will be spent as per requirement.

 

Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said that there are 56 ministers in the state, 30% of their salary and allowances amounts to Rs. 2,21,76000. There are 503 MLAs and members of the Legislative Council in the state. After deducting 30% of their salary, Rs 15,28,74,000 will be deposited in the Covid Care Fund. The total amount of Rs 17,50,50,000 will be deposited in the Covid Care Fund for one year which will be spent to strengthen medical facilities.

 

He informed that amendment has been made in the disaster fund 1951. Till now, Rs 600 crore was maintained in the disaster fund which has now been increased to Rs 1200 crore. This amount will also be spent on ensuring medical facilities, food, quarantine camps and other facilities.
