Yogi gov will give one month free ration to workers of the state

- Yogi government will give one month free ration to 1.65 crore ₹ workers of the state; Rs 1000 per month maintenance allowance to 35 lakh ₹ labourers

Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that in view of precaution that is being taken throughout the country to prevent the Corona virus outbreak, the state government is alert and cautious. With immediate effect, the state government will provide Rs. 1000 per person for maintenance to 35 lakh labourers. This payment will be sent directly to their accounts through DBT. He also announced the immediate payment to the MNREGA workers. In addition, he instructed to provide one month free ration to over 1.65 crore construction workers and daily labourers registered under Antyodaya Yojana, MNREGA with the Labour Department in April.


The Chief Minister said that Corona virus spreads through infection, and we have to stop this infection at any cost. Two days ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also appealed the countrymen to avoid going to crowded places and not to hold any public gathering.


He said that Corona virus is in the second stage all over the country. It will convey a big message to the entire world if we are successful in stopping this at this stage. To curb this infection, we are working on a war footing. Isolation wards have been set up in every district hospital and medical college. So far 23 patients have been identified in the state, out of which 9 have completely recovered. There is no need to panic, but prepare yourself to fight against this challenge, he added.


He said that as precautionary measure, the government has directed to close all educational institutions, multiplexes, theatres, malls in the state. Also, unnecessary traffic has been stopped. 


CM Yogi said that this will have an impact on people earning livelihood daily. For this, our government constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Suresh Khanna. Based on the report of this committee, the state government has approved the allowance of maintenance for daily wage workers. A total of 20.37 lakh workers are registered with the Labour Department in the state. Rs 1000 will be sent to their bank accounts directly through DBT. Those who do not have the banks accounts, we will get their accounts opened as soon as possible and the labour cess fund will be made available to all the workers through DTBT per month, he further said.


The Chief Minister said that around 15 lakhs people who are either street hawkers or earn their livelihood through pulling rickshaw in the state. The government will provide Rs 1000 immediately to them for their livelihood and this amount will also be sent to their accounts through DBT. Their database will be prepared by urban development department in the next 15 days. It is estimated that the government will spend about Rs 150 crore on this.


He said that such daily wage labourers in the urban areas who do not have ration cards, their ration cards will be made on priority basis. Orders have been issued to provide food grains to those working in rural and urban areas in the state, especially to labourers or cart pullers and others.


The Chief Minister said that educational institutions, malls, cinemas halls, multiplexes, gyms, swimming pools, restaurants have been closed for the last few days to prevent the infection of Corona virus. In a view of the affected workers, the owners and employers have been directed to provide regular wages and allow leaves to their workers.


Directing the immediate payment to MNREGA labourers, the CM said that the process of payment of about 556 crore rupees from the central government will be started in March 2020. Along with this, he instructed to provide one month's free ration to about 1 crore 65 lakh 31 thousand construction workers and daily labourers registered under Antyodaya Yojana, MNREGA with the Labour Department in April. An expenditure of about Rs 64.50 crore will be incurred on this. Foodgrains will be provided through PDS shops. Nodal officers have been deployed for this. These families will get 20 kg wheat, 15 kg rice free of cost, the CM said.


The Chief Minister said that under the various pension schemes implemented in the state, the amount of quarterly pension to 83.83 lakh beneficiaries will now be given two months in advance in April. This includes beneficiaries of old age pension, PwD persons and pension of ‘nirashit’ widows.


He said that the government will also help those families who do not have any system of earning. For this, assistance of Rs. 1000 per month will be provided by the District Magistrate on the recommendation of the Committee of Block Development Officer and Gram Panchayat Officer in rural areas and Committee of Additional District Magistrate and City Magistrate and Commissioner and Executive Officer of the concerned municipal bodies in urban areas.


The Chief Minister appealed that the public should not go to the market unnecessarily during the Janta curfew on Sunday. We should all stay at our homes. He said that the government has enough medicines and food grains. Assuring the people, he said that there will be no shortage of necessary items in the market. Everyone will get goods, and they should not queue at shops, and hoard unnecessarily. The Chief Minister further said that all metro services in UP will be closed tomorrow. Along with bus services of Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation, city bus services will be closed from 6 am to 10 pm
